Noteworthy emerging screen printing processes and ink technologies

发布时间:2026/07/06 | 浏览量:0

The current packaging and printing market is experiencing robust growth. The screen printing process is only reflected on the surface of packaging, as the market is now flooded with a wide array of goods. Supermarket and shopping mall shelves have evolved into “battlegrounds” where brands compete fiercely. Advanced screen printing technology can make commodity packaging more vivid and lifelike, quickly attracting consumers’ attention.
Nanoprinting
In the printing industry, the ability to represent details is one of the important criteria for judging the quality of printed products, which provides potential for the application of nanotechnology. In fact, judging from the drupa2012 exhibition, the so-called “nano-printing technology” demonstrated by Landa Corporation was actually the most eye-catching new digital printing technology at the exhibition. Landa Corporation claimed that the nano-printing machine integrates the strong flexibility of digital printing and the high efficiency and economy of traditional offset printing, which not only achieves high production efficiency but also seamlessly integrates with the existing working environment of printing enterprises.
Graphene conductive ink
In the smart packaging and printed electronics market, silver and copper conductive inks have dominated, but in 2011, graphene conductive ink began to make an impact and brought new hope to the market.
Graphene conductive ink boasts excellent conductivity and possesses other advantages that silver paste conductive ink lacks, such as lower cost and greater flexibility—the material can be folded or bent without compromising performance. Due to its remarkable advantages, graphene conductive ink is poised to become a new force in the conductive ink market.
Waterless offset printing
Waterless offset printing is a printing process that does not utilize water or a dampening system. Historically, the printing and packaging industry has been cautious towards waterless printing. However, over the past two years, through collaborative efforts between printing press manufacturers, paper and ink producers, significant advancements have been made in waterless offset printing technology. Waterless offset printing employs silicone rubber-coated printing plates, specialized inks, and temperature-controlled printing presses. It enables simpler and more efficient printing of a wider range of substrates, including paper and various non-absorbent printing materials.
High-fidelity color control
Vivid packaging colors are the most potent promotional tool for retail products, and this is indeed the case, even though consumers may not notice it. When shopping, consumers usually identify the brand logo of the product first, and then carefully read the product’s instruction label. This fully demonstrates the importance of the color of the product’s brand logo.
Biodegradable ink
With the rising tide of calls for green environmental protection, sustainable development has garnered significant attention in the packaging industry, and its importance has become increasingly prominent. The printing and ink markets, which are closely related to the packaging industry, have also placed greater emphasis on environmental protection and sustainable development. Consequently, a new generation of environmentally friendly inks and printing processes has emerged, with the most representative being the organic biodegradable ink ClimaPrint produced by the Indian ink manufacturer EnNatura.
Thermal inkjet coding
Traditionally, packaging manufacturers have had three printing processes to choose from for applying product codes on their production lines within their factories: laser coding, continuous inkjet coding, and thermal transfer coding. Nowadays, they have an additional option, namely thermal inkjet coding. In fact, thermal inkjet technology has been successfully applied in the office sector for many years, but it has only recently entered the industrial application field. Moreover, thermal inkjet technology excels in ink quality, drying speed, and print substrate adaptability
The adaptability of materials continues to improve, making them increasingly attractive to packaging manufacturers.
