Formula and color matching of screen printing ink

发布时间:2026/07/06 | 浏览量:0

The allocation of ink in the formula of silk screen ink is quite important, and the color allocation of silk screen ink cannot be ignored. To prepare good ink from the silk screen ink formula, we need to pay attention to the details and common sense before ink mixing, followed by ink color matching and color matching.
一、 Details before ink distribution
Before ink allocation, we should first calculate the ink consumption for each color print to ensure that the allocated ink amount is appropriate. Especially for two liquid reaction ink, the ink blending amount should be calculated based on its curing speed and printing speed.
To obtain accurate colors, ink adjustment should be carried out under stable natural light, without using multiple colors to investigate and avoid the influence of illusions. When equipping with fresh ink, the participation of dark ink should be gradually approached, avoid participating too much at once, and use a lot of light ink to remedy it. We should try to reduce the mixing of colors as much as possible, the more colors there are, the larger the grayscale.
Other things should also pay attention to the color changes before and after drying, such as on light colored substrates with high ink absorption, the ink color after drying is usually light; The color difference between the wet, dry, and foaming states of foaming ink is significant; The color of ceramic ink changes significantly after firing; White ink may turn yellow when exposed to high temperatures. Color changing rules like these require printers to stack experiences and samples in practice to create their own color codes.
The color distribution of silk screen ink (printing material) is a crucial step that cannot be ignored in the silk screen production process. The fundamental principle of allocation cannot be separated from the fundamental principles of color addition and color subtraction.
Mixing equal amounts of any two colors in the three primary colors of pigments can produce a certain hue of the three primary colors of light. From the perspective of color, these three hues are called intermediate colors (or secondary colors), such as green formed by the mixture of yellow and cyan, which is called intermediate color. The hue that occurs when intermediate colors are mixed with intermediate colors is called complex color (0 or third color). Intermediate and complex colors composed of three primary color inks, intermediate and complex colors composed of three primary color inks.

二、 Color matching method for silk screen ink
Ink color matching or color matching refers to the combination of two or more colors, or the use of a few adjacent colors in addition to the main color, to form a color combination. When distributing colored ink before use, the first priority is to expose the colors that need to be manufactured on the color sample alone, accurately distinguishing whether the original (or original) color is primary, intermediate, or complex. If it is intermediate color or complex color, it is necessary to distinguish the proportion of main color and auxiliary color. Secondly, it is necessary to adjust the sample according to the colors indicated in the original manuscript. Only when the color difference is small or stable compared to the original manuscript, can it be distributed in large quantities, and the time should be short and the adjustment amount should be appropriate. Too little adjustment results in a strike, causing variations in ink color and affecting normal production; Too much can lead to unnecessary waste. Ink adjustment is usually carried out in areas with stable lighting or where the light is not directly shining.
In screen printing technology, there are also many inks that require modulation. Because there is no unified standard for modulating silk screen ink, the pigment systems in different ink manufacturers vary, and different techniques used in practical production can affect the color of silk screen ink. Below, let’s talk about my own understanding of the color matching of screen printing ink.
1. Preparation homework before color matching:
The primary color requirement was to confirm with the customer the following: What type of printing material is required? Does the printed material have a background color? Which side of the printed material needs to be printed? How many times do you need to print with color ink? What is the number of printed web pages? After printing the color ink, is it necessary to print the background color? What is the required number of mesh sizes for printing the background color?
2. The task of color adjustment in screen printing sometimes cannot satisfy customers with just one color adjustment. If customers think that the resulting colors have errors, they need to pay attention to the following issues:
When it comes to primary color grading, Pantone color cards are only used for offset printing, and there are many differences between offset printing and screen printing, so color grading can only achieve close color matching. Secondly, there is no problem restoring the same color ink from the same company. Finally, one company’s ink is used to restore the ink of other companies, but due to the ink formula, it can only be roughly close.
When mixing colors together, the colorist usually prints the self adjusted colors first to test the printing effect. If the colorist’s printing effect is recognized by the customer, but the customer does not print this effect when printing individually, it should be comprehensively considered and analyzed based on the customer’s sample size, printing pressure, screen latex thickness, scraper hardness, and printing speed.
